For us growing good food isn’t just about great tasting veg. It’s also about enhancing the place where we farm. Whilst we run a tight ship, we don’t use any chemical herbicides, pesticides or fertilisers. Instead we use Organic methods and permaculture techniques to create a resilient space and improve biodiversity.
We use very little machinery and keep our fossil fuel use to an absolute minimum. Currently only 1% of the British population is involved in food production. We think many more people should be hands-on with growing, so our system is unashamedly reliant on manpower ― it is people who grow this food, not petrochemicals.
This hands-on approach is central to achieving truly sustainable growing practices. We carefully make our own composts and soil enhancers, we remove the need for herbicides through diligent weeding and we collect rainwater for irrigation. This is just a few examples of the ways in which we are striving to revolutionise food production, and we are learning all the time.
We believe sustainable food production should be at the heart of every community. That’s why we want to engage as many people as possible in joining the local food revolution!
Throughout the year we open our farm gate for events and visits and also attend shows and fairs around Cornwall. See our events page to find out more.
If you would like to get more involved, we welcome volunteers all year round. In return for your efforts you’ll learn new skills, meet new people and get a share of the day’s harvest! We welcome all ages and abilities, whether you’re a seasoned gardener or an absolute beginner. If you’d like to lend a hand please just get in touch.
